The Smallest Gift of Christmas and Words Worth -- helping Syrians in need

Words Worth Books, with generous help from Penguin Random House, is giving back this season.  100% off our profit on the sale of Peter H. Reynold's "The Smallest Gift of Christmas" will be donated to help a family of Syrian refugees get a new start in Waterloo Region.

We felt so strongly about this idea that we talked to booksellers across Canada.  They wanted to be a part of this plan so Penguin Random House agreed to offer all the indies a better deal so that we can give more to each of our local programs.

Simply put-- purchase "The Smallest Gift of Christmas" for $13.00 from us and $6.50 (100% of our profit) will be donated to a refugee program in Waterloo Region.  Purchase it from The Book Keeper and the money will be donated to a refugee program in Sarnia.  Purchase it from Chat Noir and donate to New Liskeard.  Munro's and donate to Victoria.

If there's an Independent Bookstore, and a Syrian family in need, we can do a little something together!

(And you'll get a cute stocking-stuffer to boot!)

Bearface Design and Words Worth Books present "Seth's Dominion"

Mondays in September and October at the Original Princess, Bearface Design presents a series on Art, Design & Architecture. SEPTEMBER 28 - 7PM - Seth's Dominion, a film by Luc Chamberland  (2014, 42 minutes)

With guest appearance by Seth including selected NFB shorts curated by him.

Canadian cartoonist Seth, best known for comic books such as Palookaville, is one of the world’s great storytellers in the form. In his personal projects he transforms his poignant inner life into observant and witty graphic stories. He is also incredibly prolific, producing semi-autobiographical comics and award-winning commercial work, as well as what he calls his “little hobbies.” Director Luc Chamberland sheds light on his articulate subject, mixing insightful biography with vivid animation in an artful fusion of filmmaking techniques that perfectly captures Seth’s manifold creative universe. In this deft portrait of one of our most unique artists, Seth proves to be a wry and engaging narrator of his life story and artistic process.
